This week, Prospect New Orleans revealed the artists participating in Prospect.4: The Lotus in Spite of the Swamp at two momentous events. We were joined by City Council Member Jason Williams in New Orleans, and Mark Romig, CEO of the New Orleans Tourism and Marketing Corporation, in New York, as well as many of our partner organizations, members of the Artistic Director’s Council and participating artists, to present the fourth Prospect Triennial to open on November 18, which will run through February 25, 2018, in conjunction with the celebrations of the Tricentennial of the City of New Orleans.
Against the backdrop of inspirational images of New Orleans and works by the artists, Artistic Director Trevor Schoonmaker shared his vision of Prospect.4 (P.4) with members of the press; on May 23 at the Ogden Museum of Art in New Orleans, and on May 24 in New York City at the Ace Hotel. You may sample some of the enthusiastic responses here:
Later in the evening of May 24, in collaboration with our partner ICI, Schoonmaker made his first public presentation of the curatorial framework guiding him in the selection of the 73 artists participating in the exhibition, as part of the Curator’s Perspective Series of the Vera List Center for Art and Politics at the New School. This Curator’s Perspective Lecture was produced in a collaboration between Independent Curators International and the Vera List Center for Art and Politics at The New School.
