Happy New Year from Prospect New Orleans!

Prospect New Orleans .3

We are keeping track of the days and minutes leading up to the opening of the third iteration of one of the most anticipated international biennials in America. Prospect.3 (P.3) opens on October 25, 2014. Between now and next fall Artistic Director Franklin Sirmans and Deputy Director Ylva Rouse will be working with nearly 40 artists from around the world to create P.3:Notes for Now in more than a dozen venues throughout New Orleans. Next month we launch P.3 READS, a collaboration with the New Orleans Public Library that highlights the connection between art and literature by placing P.3 artists in conversation with New Orleans locals to talk about what books they are reading and thinking about and using as a source of inspiration. Stay tuned for more information!

The Prospectors Club is a group of art-lovers and ambassadors for P.3 who participate in programming throughout the year leading up to the opening of the exhibition in October 2014. Members enjoy regular events inNew Orleans including lectures, private collection tours, studio visits and cocktails with P.3 artists.

In 2013 the group visited the studio of George Dunbar, the collections of Susan and Bill Hess and Dorian Bennett, and participated in the first Art Weekend in New York featuring private tours of the New Museum and the High Line and a collection visit at the home of Barbara and John Wilkerson.)

2014’s calendar will feature exclusive studio visits with local and international artists, a curated art weekend in the Hamptons, visits to contemporary collections, and celebrations surrounding the fall opening of P.3.
