HAEGUE YANG (b. 1971, Seoul, Korea) lives and works in Berlin and Seoul.

Drawing on her personal experience, Haegue Yang’s books, videos, and sculptures are reflections on how differences in culture can render even the most mundane things suddenly strange.

Yang received her BFA from Seoul National University, Fine Arts College, and her MFA from Städelschule Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Her recent solo exhibitions and projects include Foxed in the Forest, Gallery Dépendance, Brussels, and Remote Room, Galerie Barbara Wien, Berlin. Other exhibitions include Brave New Worlds, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN (2007); the São Paulo Biennial, (2007); and Manifesta 4, Frankfurt, Germany (2002).  Upcoming projects include the Baloise Prize show, Kunsthalle, Hamburg, Germany, and exhibitions at Portikus, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and Sala Rekalde, Bilbao.

Yang is represented by Barbara Wien Gallery in Berlin.
