PAUL VILLINSKI (b. 1960, York, ME) lives and works in New York.

Paul Villinski’s artwork transforms discarded, “worthless” materials into objects of new meaning and beauty.  For Prospect.1 New Orleans, he has created the Emergency Response Studio, a repurposed thirty-foot FEMA trailer, like those deployed to the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina, transformed from a generally depressing symbol into a visually engaging, solar and wind-powered mobile artist’s studio. The structure can be used in post-disaster sites to house displaced or visiting artists, enabling them to immerse themselves and chronicle unfolding events through their art. The Emergency Response Studio project is conceived as a symbol of transformation, possibility, and hope for the Gulf Coast community.

Paul Villinski has exhibited extensively with recent shows at The Museum of Arts and Design, New York; The Hillwood Art Museum, NY; the Ogunquit Museum of American Art, MA; Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh; Arkansas State University and the University of Wyoming Art Museum. He has been a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Grant, and has been an Artist-in-Residence at the Millay Colony, NY; the Ucross Foundation, WY; the Djerassi Foundation, CA; and the Villa Montalvo Arts Center, CA. Educated at the Phillips Exeter Academy and the Massachusetts College of Art, Villinski received a BFA from the Cooper Union in 1984.

Villinski is represented by Jonathan Ferrara Gallery in New Orleans and Morgan Lehman Gallery in New York.
