STEPHEN G. RHODES (b. Covington, LA) lives and works in Los Angeles.
Stephen G. Rhodes works in any media necessary to break into the delirious space of the historical unconscious. Raised in Louisiana, the South often figures heavily in Rhodes’s work. Borrowing strategies from dominant forms of pedagogical entertainment, such as period films, Disney attractions, or museological displays, Rhodes stages a collision of mediums and repressed narratives posing as an impossible history lesson.
Rhodes has participated in exhibitions at the ZKM Center for the Arts, Karlsruhe, Germany; the Hermitage, St. Petersburg; and ArtRock at Rockefeller Center, New York, among others.
Rhodes is represented by Overduin and Kite in Los Angeles.
