KAZ OSHIRO (b. 1967, Okinawa, Japan) lives and works in Los Angeles.

Kaz Oshiro creates trompe l’oeil sculptures of everyday objects, such as washers and dryers and cardboard boxes, from stretched canvas, acrylic paint and other traditional painting materials.  Oshiro presentation of these seemingly banal objects within a gallery context work challenges the way we look at the real-life models for his sculptures.

Oshiro’s work has been exhibited at the Las Vegas Museum of Art, NV (2007); the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, CA (2007); the Asia Society and Museum, New York, NY (2006); the UCLA Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2005); and the Contemporary Art Center Cincinnati, OH (2004).

The artist is represented by Yvon Lambert in New York, and Rosamund Felsen Gallery in Santa Monica, CA.
