GAJIN FUJITA (b. 1972, Los Angeles, CA) lives and works in Los Angeles.

Gajin Fujita’s sophisticated paintings and drawings reflect many cultural influences that range from the lush visuals of traditional Japanese tattoos, to screen painting from the Edo period and woodblock prints by ukiyo-e artists, to contemporary Japanese cartoons and graffiti and hip-hop culture.

Fujita’s work has been featured in important group shows including Site Santa Fe (2001); Outlook International Art Exhibition, Athens (2003); Los Angeles County Museum of Art, (2005-06) and most recently POPulence, Blaffer Gallery, University of Houston, (2005), traveling to Cleveland Museum of Contemporary Art and Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA), Winston Salem, NC. Fujita celebrated his first solo museum exhibition at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, MO.

Fujita is represented by L.A. Louver in Venice, CA.
